Eye conditions
We are committed to our goal of protecting, improving, and restoring vision for people living with eye diseases around the world.
Some eye conditions affect the retina, a layer at the back of the eye that helps your brain form images. When the retina is damaged, vision may become blurry or worsen over time. In some cases, this can lead to vision loss.
We study how retinal damage happens and research investigational treatments for these conditions.
Diabetic Macular Edema (DME)
DME is an eye condition that can occur in people with diabetes. It develops when damaged blood vessels leak fluid into the retina, causing swelling in the macula. The macula controls sharp, central vision used for activities like reading and recognizing faces.
Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (Wet AMD)
Wet AMD is an advanced form of AMD that can lead to rapid vision loss. It occurs when abnormal blood vessels grow under the retina and leak fluid or blood, which can damage central vision.
Deciding whether to participate in a clinical trial is an important decision, and you don’t have to make it alone. Talk to your doctor, friends, or family when considering participation in a clinical trial.
You can also call our Clinical Trial Information Center at 1-888-577-8839 for more assistance.
“I read over everything very carefully. You have to find out the pros and cons and what the consequences are, or may be, and make your best determination.”
